Solar energy is the cleanest and most sustainable energy resource. The World energy demand is predicted to reach 27 TW by 2050, however; approximately 89,000 TW can reach the surface of the earth every year. The most significant factor of solar energy harvest is the surface areas. If we can use more surface areas to set the solar cell devices, we can get more energy. However, since the land source shortage need to be considered, we can only use the space that won’t losing their original function when absorbing solar energy.
One excellent combination is solar cells and venetian blinds. Usually, venetian blinds are used for intercepting light. Why not use them to absorb time at the same time? The unique structure of venetian blinds can provide large surface areas. It is exactly what the solar cells need! The manufacture of solar venetian blinds is quite possible by using the 3rd generation thin film solar cell, which is lightweight and flexible with low cost. It can be compatible with fabrication of venetian blinds, parasols, sunhat or even our daily clothes. I believe if we can get solar cell involved in our daily life, we can solve the acute energy problem.
